Almost a year after Matias Heikkilä published this piece, everything in it still holds. Why? I'm not sure.

But I see it in my everyday work, where I barely write code anymore (I said it here) and my days are just as busy, maybe more. And I see it in the models, which keep getting better at coding, but the engineering is still there, as necessary as before.

I'll reread it next October to see whether the gap closed and this aged badly, or whether the hard part of this job was never the coding.
